Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to get started?
Basic swimming skills, sunscreen and gals should either wear a one-piece suit or two pieces with a rash guard up top. Guys should avoid elastic waist shorts and go with trunks commonly known as boardshorts. Rashguards are highly recommended for rash protection and UV protection.
How can you guarantee that I’ll be able to surf?
My system is designed to eliminate the most difficult aspects of surfing: timing, wave knowledge, and paddling power. I select your waves, catch them for you, and tell you when to stand up. As you become comfortable with the mechanics of standing up and actually riding a wave, it’s time to catch your own waves. I also hand pick the right board for you. Riding a surfboard that’s too small is probably the most commonly seen obstacle in learning how to surf. I teach on longboards and they offer unparalleled stability and paddling ease. Any age, any size, I can have you surfing!
Why John Tully’s Surf Camp over the others?
Because I’ve taught hundreds of men and women, I have a perfect safety track record, and you’ll get the benefit of a lifetime’s worth of worldwide surfing experience. I’ll teach you to surf, but more importantly, you’ll leave my camp with all-around ocean prowess.
