About John Tully

John Tully is a lifelong Beaches resident who started surfing in 1968 in Ponte Vedra Beach.

At age 11, he was sponsored by and surfed for Hobie Surfboards; one of only a few and the youngest from the area at that time. His amateur competitive career began at 12 and by 19 he was living and surfing in California for Infinity and later Stewart Surfboards. His first trips to the North Shore of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands began in the late eighties and continue to the present.

35 years of worldwide surfing experience have exposed him to a wide spectrum of surfing experiences. From the challenges of riding large Hawaiian surf to the familiarity with the backyard he knows so well and home of the John Tully Surf Camp. It’s this background that provides him with the kind of experience that one can expect to find at the camp.
